1422853 2016-07-08 07:59:00 Ok, today at the behest of SWMBO I upgraded (?) her ASUS K52F/K62F notebook from Win 7 to Win 10.

Well the whole process was relatively painless and everything seemed to work fine.

But then she went onto Skype and bugger me if the Video isn’t upside-down and I can’t find how to turn it up the right way. The driver is said to be correct (your camera is working correctly and has the latest driver) or words to that effect, but no it isn’t.

Anyone else struck this and know the fix?

:thanks

1422857 2016-07-08 08:26:00 Go to its entry in device manager. Details tab change it to hardware ids. Copy and paste whats there in here.''

This used to happen with other models as well. One of the previous fixes you had to change something in the inf file you downloaded so the image would be the right way up

But in this case, you may have to find out what the hardware id is first before you re-download the driver

There's 3 different drivers (I think it's for this model) on the ASUS site. One for Chicony one for Azurewave_AM-VB008 Camera Driver, and one for Suyin Camera Driver depending on what the hardware id is for it

1422858 2016-07-08 08:27:00 Its a common Problem with ASUS.

The Reason: ASUS install the web Cam upside down in the case so it fits better, they then altered the Driver to compensate. When W10 installs it puts in the generic USB cam driver, which of course then makes the Cam appear upside down.

Theres a couple of fixes. Get the W7 Driver from ASUS and install that - fixes problem. You can also have a look in the C drive of your laptop, it may have copied or left the original drivers ( possibly in a hidden folder) so you can reinstall the drivers from that.
Sometimes other have used the free version of manycam https://download.manycam.com/ Apparently it has an option in the settings to flip the image, never used it myself, always used the original W7 drivers.

Also found another suggestion, (Never tried it) but open regedit, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{6BDD1FC6-810F-11D0-BEC7-08002BE2092F}\0000\Settings

Look for to see if there is 32bit DWORD entry FLIP. change the value from 0 to 1 or 1 to 0.

Failing that -- As per the video linked above what is the hardware ID ? Is it by any chance USB\VID_04F2&PID_B1E5&REV_2069&MI_00

EDITED: go to ASUS site www.asus.com Go to the Cam section, you'll need that Hardware ID to get the right one. :)

1422859 2016-07-09 01:02:00 Thanks Guys.

I’ve got the Win 7 Driver installed, after a fight, because Win 10 insisted I had the latest driver installed and it was working correctly. However uninstalling the Webcam and reinstalling using the Win 7 Driver overcame that.

However, I can see it being turned around because Win 10 thinks it’s a redundant driver and its own is best. We’ll see.

Pretty poor form from ASUS though given that they turned the camera up the other way and the latest driver is Win 7. No Win 8 or 8.1 that I could find either.

And to answer a couple of questions:

Yes the Camera is a Chicony, The hardware ID is USB\VID_04F2&PID_B1E5&REV_2069&MI_00 and there was no DWORD entry FLIP.

In the meantime I seem to have Microphone and Speaker problems to address also.

Why don’t they have an Anglo Saxon Week?

P.S. Just as and aside, Revo Uninstaller, that I’ve used for years, seems to be unable to make a Restore Point with Win 10???????????? (Had to Uninstall and Reinstall Skype to get Skype to work.)

1422860 2016-07-09 03:06:00 Something you may want to have a play with - Never tried it, but looks like it should work ( famous last words) ;)

From Search type in Device Install Select it - Select NO ( as pictured) Then reboot to take effect.

1422861 2016-07-09 05:43:00 Wushowhide will also let you select whatever driver so Win10 wont install / update it.

I had to use this, for my Canon printer driver, after I had installed them

Because it kept trying to install one and bringing up an error. And I couldnt update windows
