But exists on the Wayback Machine - Internet Archives. From Englishman Adam Hutchinson - Also includes costings (pounds), and measurements for the valve stems..Cam done about 195 million revs... I have (learnt) similar years ago with a engineering uncle of mine, using the old valve lapping process, honing, ring expanders, lathe, etc, and popping in new rings, seals, stems, springs, etc.. Such a simple job in concept, but I got stuck. Had to call a mechanic to fix it on the side of the road :wub Before that I did things like clutch and bearing replacements. I remember turning up a dummy gearbox shaft to align the clutch on my '69 Corona (rear wheel drive). Toyotas were extremely rare in NZ back then, about as rare as a (Chinese) Chery today I have a friend who's into Toyota sports cars (MR2, MRS) and a serious tinkerer - will pass on the link to him (I realise the link is for cars in general, not necessarily Toyota) |

Once I struggled, as could not get plates/flywheel flush, Then realized the headers/down pipe had to be removed to release it's weight. Engines much easier to work on the bench. Basically swapping, cleaning or polishing small bits. Clutches, - too much wriggling - back labor. Long got rid of my block and tackles though and A frames... Don't know why recently I bought 5th set of jack stands , pry, breaker, and extension bars, extension sockets, BJ removers, BFH, and 3 new jacks recently though. I think to get my sons and nephews to do any future work... |
