633856 2008-01-25 08:30:00 Hi Team. Am at my mothers new computer and she is having trouble sending emails. A message comes up:The host 'pop3' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly.
Account: 'windows mail', Server: 'pop3', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 11001, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D

She has been told her incoming mail should read
"pop.wise.net.nz"

Outgoing: smtp.wise.net.nz

I have checked and these are correct.

She is running Vista and it is a dial up

Any other reasons why this is playingup??

Ps: she is 81 so she is doing pretty well with this stuff:annoyed:

633857 2008-01-25 08:57:00 Are you sure the dialup connection is actually connecting.
Have you checked if she can get web sites.

Try re entering the username and password in Tools/Options/Accounts, and make sure there are no periods or spaces where they shouldn't be If all else fails ring the ISP's helpdesk. They will help you with the set up.

633860 2008-01-25 13:22:00 Take a look at this page
www.wise.net.nz
(I'm assuming this is your ISP ;))

633861 2008-01-25 18:50:00 Incoming and outgoing should be the same:-

POP3 Server mail.wise.net.nz
SMTP Server mail.wise.net.nz

633863 2008-01-26 02:23:00 Managed to sort out the email sending issue. In Windows mail tools, options, connections, untick "hangup after sending or recieveing" and that stops the sending issue.
The error massage keeps coming up tho, and it looks like there is an action still wanting to happen, because it says in the recieved section of windows mail "1 of 2 tasks have been successfully completed" and the error comes up after that. If you hide it, it will let the user carry on, but I want to know how to delete it because it is a nuisance -any help would be appreciated

633864 2008-01-26 08:25:00 If you are using windows mail in Vista I just fixed a laptop the other day which had a stuck message causing problems. Unable to delete it or move it. Don't know if this is your problem but if it is go here (support.microsoft.com) and get the fix. Tukapa (62)

This is easier than going through all that MS stuff.
