2008-01-25 07:49:00 | when i tried turning on my computer i had this beep code sound, 1 long and 3 short i tried looking on net, i think im using ami bios and it said "A fault has been detected in memory above 64KB" "You've probably just added memory to the motherboard since this is a conventional or extended memory failure. Generally this is caused by a memory chip that is not seated properly. Reseat the memory chips" I haven't added any ram or changed anything from when it was last working when i shut it down normaly, i duno if memory chips is another name for ram but i switched around my two ram sticks in differn't slots, and made sure they were down and it still beeped, used powersupply only, unplugged dvd, hardrives my monitor doesnt' seem to go to bios or wateva even tho graphics cards fan is going so i presume its working AMD althon x2 4000+ CPU ASUS M2N-E SLI motherboard 1GB DDR2 667 RAM 400w Case Nvidia NF 8600GT 256M PCI-E thankful for any help, computers pritty new as well :(

2008-01-25 07:56:00 | get memtest (www.google.co.nz) and run it, see if your ram passes or fails if you have more than one stick do it one at time | beama (111) | |
2008-01-25 07:56:00 | Welcome to Press F1 Termz - Since you ahve two RAM sticks, remove 1 and try booting see if it boots, if not, then remove the one installed and try the other. See what happens. You can also down load Memtest from my sig, its an Zipped ISO file so unzip it and using your CD burners ISO software burn it to CD, if you dont have a ISO burner software - thats in my sig as well. See if the PC will boot from the CD and run a full Memory test. EDITED_ Beama - we think alike and same time it seems :D

2008-01-25 07:57:00 | Try just 1 ram stick at a time in the 1st ram slot, sounds possible that one ( or possibly both, unusual though) ram stick has died. Echo....echoo.....echoooooo ;)

2008-01-25 09:12:00 | i tried my ram 1 at a time still beeped does that mean there bloth broken, cos their new and dnt see how they could of died. Theres two differn't coloured slots on my board duno wat the differnce but i tried them as well, got lost a bit on booting from dvd i burnt the memtest folder on to dvd as far as i no its working but just not sure how to boot from dvd/cd since i cnt get into bios | termz (13320) | |
2008-01-25 09:46:00 | I tried both sticks seperately and I can't even get a boot up, so no point in memtest, gonna take it for warranty this week. did i mention I overclocked by 3% from the bios....... had been playing cod4 all day prior to this incident... perhaps some heating problem? | termz (13320) | |
