633803 2008-01-25 05:29:00 Hi everyone.

I have a motherboard that when i turn on doesnt display the POST menu.
What sort of problem could this be and could i fix it?

Appreciate comments (even if it is bad news).

633804 2008-01-25 05:39:00 So, it doesnt turn on at all then?

Or when you press the on button, its working but there's nothing on the screen?

If it doesnt turn on at all, depending on what the mobo is, make sure the ATX 12v connector is plugged in. If the mobo has the connection (it has 4 squares, on it).

633805 2008-01-25 05:45:00 Everything is plugged in and connected properly. Could it simply be a fried mobo? nzjab06 (101)
633806 2008-01-25 05:47:00 Must be something, either the PSU or mobo, or CPU. If you've connected everything.

Whats the mobo

633808 2008-01-25 05:59:00 is the fan on the power supply going, if not it may indicate a faulty power supply.

do the key lights on the keyboard, numlock etc, flash when the power is turned on.

Are all the expansion cards seated correctly (include RAM modules)

disconnect the cdrom, floppy disk and try booting ( I had a faulty cdrom cause this symptom once).

Have you got a usb pen drive plugged in

isn't fault finding fun :badpc:

633811 2008-01-25 07:49:00 Ive just replaced my previous MOBO with this gigabyte one. I know that everything else is working because it was all working on my last mobo Out of Interest, how long have you had this Board, and is it brand New or purchased second hand Ex stock etc?

The reason for asking is by the model number you gave its an old Socket 478 Board, these went out of production abour a year ago , possibly longer ?

There are some shops around here, that still sell 478 pin mobos.

I was lucky to find a shop in Newmarket up here that still sold them. When my last 478 pin died. That was round end of 2004 - mid 2005.

And the same shop is still selling them now AFAIK.
