633556	2008-01-24 18:37:00	My Windows XP has over the last couple of months gotten as slow as molasses in all activities. It takes forever to boot up and is slow to go from one program to another. I have Zone Alarm Security Suite installed, am on cable internet. It seems that the hard drive reads forever. Task manager shows up to 100% cpu usage frequently. I have seen several registry fix/clean-up programs which I could purchase. I ran the free download of a couple which indicated that I had hundreds of problems with my registry. However, I am very reluctant to purchase one of these sight unseen knowing nothing about them (or the problem, either). Do any of you have any suggestions to help clear up my problem? By the way, I have run defrag, which said that I did not need to defrag my hard drive. For the last several weeks I have received a curious alert when navigating the Bob Vila Do-It-Yourself forum. I get a Windows Internet Explorer message stating: "Stack overflow at line: 43" I can click the "OK" button and procede with my action, but it keeps coming up from time-to-time. This does not occur when I navigate other forums. Any suggestions? Another issue which seems to have occurred about the same time as the Stack Overflow message is a message which I often receive when trying to install downloads, play music, etc. It is as follows: “Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the file.” Any guidance which you may share would be appreciated.	thiggy (11892)
633557	2008-01-24 19:30:00	Welcome to Press F1 Thiggy - sounds like your PC could be infected with spyware. Download Ccleaner ,Spybot S&D, Spyware Doctor from my sig, And Super Antispyware (www.superantispyware.com/) and Trojan remover (http:) Install update and run them. Then download Hijack This (www.spychecker.com). Save it to a folder on your desktop, run the program and use the option to save a log. Copy that log back into this forum/post. Some one will look at the log and advise - speedy it top notch with these. Dont go playing or paying with reg cleaners - they can do a lot of damage if you don't know what you are doing.	wainuitech (129)

633559	2008-01-24 21:05:00	You have possibly downloaded a "free" scam registry program which finds squillions of faults which only it can detect. It will "fix" them for you by you sending them heaps of cabbage. Windows Defrag nearly always tells you it in not necessary to run. This was done at the request of Corporate America who had staff sitting for hours watching Windows defag. See what happens when you run the program.	PENTIUM (426)

633561	2008-01-25 05:22:00	You could try defragmenting if you havent allready, but it does sound like spyware. To defrag download Defragler and defragment quickly. Also if youve scanned for spyware with a a scanner (eg spybot) use a different scanner as werll because it may be able to pickup some extras. But first of all you should try some of the things that wainuitech has mentioned, he knows his stuff.	nzjab06 (101)
