633205 2008-01-23 12:12:00 I have just purchased a Toshiba A90 and a Netcomm wireless modem but cannot get connected. The modem is connected with a network cable to my PC and internet works fine there. My Toshiba wireless detects the network but it cannot connect. I have set the Netcomm to reserve an IP address for portforwarding (in case that makes any difference). I am running XP on both machines. I am also running comodo firewall on my PC. bpt2 (6653)
633206 2008-01-23 12:27:00 Have you enabled wireless in the router?

If its a router?

And did comodo detect the wireless?

And did you add it?

633207 2008-01-23 12:51:00 Wireless is enabled on the router and I have allowed the laptop's mac address. I can't see where comodo adds the router but I am connecting to the net ok. bpt2 (6653)
633208 2008-01-23 13:40:00 Have your tried disabling Comodo while using wireless and are you sure that your wireless network is in fact up and running?

Can a mod also close this thread or atleast merge them, they are duplicate: pressf1.co.nz

633209 2008-01-26 04:37:00 The answer, I have finally discovered, is to put the same WEP code on the laptop as in the Netcomm router. This does not happen by default. Now all is well.
But I still have another networking question: How can I share files on 1 PC with a specified other user only, i.e. not everyone?

What version of XP is on both of them??

If its Home, I dont think you can, only Pro can.

You'll need a 3rd party program.

By files do you mean files that have been installed? Or files you've copied (but not installed)?

633211 2008-01-26 11:37:00 I have XP Pro on both computers and by files I mean folders and documents. bpt2 (6653)
633212 2008-01-26 16:36:00 You'll have to untick safe file sharing under tools / folder options / view in my computer. To get the security tab.

Then right mouse on a folder to see the security tab.

Then I think all you do is add whoever / the user. And deny or allow them access.
