303645	2004-12-16 09:33:00	I didn't think it could happen outside of the Goon Show but apparently in the 1930s farmers in the Taranaki had been using sodium chlorate to control ragwort. When this mixes with organic material, such as cotton and woolen fibres, the mixture becomes violently explosive. As most farmers smoked and they were also in the habit of drying there clothes by the fire, explosions occured. There was at least one fatality reported by the Hawera Star.	Dally (6292)
