| 634039 | 2008-01-29 10:22:00 | we are currently working on this problem with the company responsible for hosting our ads. We are also looking to change the way the page loads, ie have content load before ads, to eliminate the problem. I can't make any promises or give you a firm timeline on that though :) Oh Dear God, this is going to take a long time then. Chilling Silence to the rescue (again) perhaps? He should rejuvenated after celebrating his birthday AND a nice long weekend. |

| 634040 | 2008-01-29 20:56:00 | The SomethingAwful forums ran VBulletin too. Apparently the thing is so badly done that they spent two years optimising it and fixing it up. And for them it's still worth replacing with something good, written in the Catalyst Framework (no relation to the company). |

| 634041 | 2008-01-29 21:30:00 | We have no problem with people pointing out when the forum loads slowly. The slow-down over the past week has been caused by the third-party company that serves our ads, Accipter. Accipter has still not been able to explain the problem. We have now turned off ads on Press F1 while we wait for the problem to be resolved. Believe me, it's driven us around the bend too. Messages of complaint on this forum, and via PMs, have helped us persuade the powers that be to temporarily suspend ads, so that's a good thing. | Chris Keall (10417) | ||

| 634044 | 2008-01-29 21:48:00 | I'm glad I started this thread. I was worried upset and confused. Now thanks to all the explanations I am no longer worried or upset but hopelessly confused by the explanations. Glad I decided years ago I really didn't have it in me to be a programmer. Tom |
