So true in matters of great moment, but one notes the world seems to be still going round.

All this is not meant with a too serious note.

Easy to get hold of wrong end of stick.

634032 2008-01-29 03:45:00 And I thought it was just me. Would be great to see a resolution of this, it is really irritating when browsing the Forum. I've updated my hosts file. ledzep (1441)
634033 2008-01-29 04:08:00 Hosts file editing didn't work, but Adblock for Firefox works great! Much faster now. bye-bye inl.adbureau.net. ledzep (1441)
634034 2008-01-29 04:52:00 Hosts file editing does work

You probably have 2 "Hosts" files now
1 - the original with no programe icon
2 - a "Hosts" text file - the one that you saved after editing (and which will not be recognised as the system hosts file)

A very common mistake to watch for here...
When you save the file after editing , you have to make sure the "save as type" is changed from ".txt" to "All Files"

To do this - dont go to "File/save" after editing, go to "File/Save as"
This will bring up the Save as box with 3 fields

Filename:
Save as Type:
Encoding:

Change
Save as Type: - - from ".txt" to "All Files"

make sure the Filename: is hosts and click save

now it will work
