And Windows didnt look like it had anything on it made by Dell or HP. I think I'll ask him WHERE exactly this thing came from. I bought a PC from the warehouse stationary (my first one actually) - it was branded 'impact' which I think was just a custom (or made up) brand assembled for them in NZ from off-the-shelf parts (the motherboard in question was a DFI CM-33EC) The windows installation (XP Home) was a quick job, it seemed they had just installed windows to the point of asking for your username and then just turned it off. as a result all the drivers loaded were just standard XP ones (I had to install them from the driver CD myself) But since it used all fully standard parts, not like real brand name pieces of rubbish I reckon they did a pretty good job with it. As for your WPA program, it's detected as a virus because it's a hacktool capable of disabling activation on windows XP, though as you say, not necessary for them if they have a real sticker on the case! I would not say it corrupted the BIOS but there are viruses out there that can do it (Chernobyl virus is an older but well known example) |
