I would just go and pick up a second hand ruger 10/22 and be done with it... only thing about the 10/22 is when you own one you never seem to be able to stop yourself modding them :p, ours is onto its third stock(now a fully rubberised, swelled palm stock), its second barrel (a heavy bullbarrel with inbuilt silencer) and we just picked up some stick mags for the thing :p, they sorta become an addiction...	lagbort (5041)

D. not interested in e-cat ....big mags, pistol grips and long barrels just get in the way for scrub hunting :) tho if price is ok it could be converted to something useable. Also has tripod mount, almost an lp/gpmg, except for no belt feed, can be fitted with laser and/or teloscope, has flash suppressor . D . I hope you don't shoot rabbits with that . They have to go, but dont like to see any unintentionally harmfull creature suffer. 306 with a scope is good too, but slow. D.	drb1 (4492)

This is inches of course. .22 = Rabbits, Hares, 'Possums, Feral cats etc. .243 or .247 = Goats, Deer. .303 = Deer and Pigs. 6.5 - 8.00mm and up will deal with the same as .303 For Elephants you probably want .50 and up. Especially if it's angry. :D I have seen a person Rabbit shooting with a .44 Ruger. I was using a .22 that day and my rabbits went in the pot. Shotguns with candlewax poured into cartridges are also useful for pigs. I have never hunted Wapati down the South Island in which case I would probably use something with a fairly high muzzle velocity and a telescopic sight.	Elephant (599)
304005	2004-12-21 21:57:00	anything up to red deer size, i would use a .222, deadly accurate and packs one hell of a wallop :p, plus I find its one of the nicest cartridges to fire. Gotta love the old brno fox tho, I never really appreciated how good it was until dad bought his new tikka .222...., just hope he never tries to sell the brno	lagbort (5041)
