633629 2008-01-24 19:30:00 Thirteen years ago my word processor churned out my documents in *wps format. When MS Word came along, I used the MS wps converter to read them and all was fine. I even gave those old files the *doc attachment. Recently it has been necessary to e-mail some of these files as attachments and I am getting reports from recipients that they cannot open them.

I suspect that some of these so-called *doc files are actually *wps in disguise. How can I force these to change format? I have searched the Word manual but cannot find the answer.

Thanks in advance for any help.

633630 2008-01-24 19:53:00 Did you just change the file extension or did you use Save As and save then as a Word Document?

Save As and saving as a word document would have made them word documents. I use Office 2003 and i can still open my old Word 2 documents no problem.

Mozilla had a bug that would not display .docs properly at the other end, could be something like that. Email one to yourself to see what has happened to it exactly.
