304532 2004-12-17 10:09:00 Unfortunately I was not part of the gliding community Tony. I did all my wanderings in that area on Shanks pony with a pack on my back. It's still a great place though from whichever angle you view it. Dally (6292)
304533 2004-12-17 10:13:00 I quite enjoyed my gliding times too, either end of the string, but best off it. R2x1 (4628)

Hooray - another enthusiast. I was a flying instructor at Wellington GC for quite a few years but never a tow pilot. Happy days to look back on. Now reading in Gliding Kiwi it is all super fibreglass and a panel full of instruments...
Ah - the good old days.
Cheers tony

304536 2004-12-17 10:47:00 Yep tonyF, now there are no more gliding competitions or camps, just Tupperware parties :) R2x1 (4628)
304537 2004-12-18 03:28:00 Yep - OtEmatata is very near Omarama and The Haka. Place is starting to fill up with holiday makers. There's snow on the hills around town today and at present it's a comfortable 10C. katharinem (3459)
