634467 2008-01-28 19:25:00 Heh thats why I wanted the clarification, but with 2 batteries it shouldn't be a problem and I really don't like the look of the G9 DeSade (984)

634469 2008-02-14 08:47:00 Okay, it seems that people are still unsure on choosing between the G7, and the G9 so I'll sum it up for all of you, coming from a serious, hardcore gamer.

I had both G7's the Green one (version 1) and the carbon fibre edition (the black one).

Green one:
It sucked. there was no grip what so ever and the pads on the bottom wore out in a few months. This is why they released the black one, because the green one was defective. It was not a gamer's mouse, at all. It was a glossy, pretty desktop mouse.

Carbon Fiber Edition:
It was alright. It had some grips on the side, but still glossy as hell. The pads didn't wear out like the green one but it did have MAJOR issues which is why Logitech discontinued the damn thing.

Issues such as:
- Setpoint being buggy as hell up to the 4.0 series
-DPI getting screwy if you ALT+TAB'ed during your game play, you would have to reset your dpi's.
- Major GUCK building up on your mouse surface. This is due to two reasons. One being the glossy finish, which causes all your grime and sweat to fall off onto the mouse surface, and the fact that the mouse is so narrow that it does not cover most of your hand.

Oh did I mention, Bad ergonomic design? Yeah that's right. Why? because it bucks your palm up while you game. That causes carpel tunnel syndrome.

The G9 is way more ergonomic, people are just too blinded by eye candy to notice it.

Now you say, This cordless mouse performs just as well as a CORDED one?

GET REAL.

Nothing cordless will ever perform as good as wired. It is just law of electricity. Anything wired is usually shielded where as wireless, well, there is no medium itself thus it'll interfere with anything, and if you have more than one blue tooth device going, good luck.

There was a noticeable delay in shots, sometimes shots didnt' come out, and Changing those damn batteries during game play is very annoying. Set the charger to burst charge? that'll over-volt the batteries and reduce life. a bad feature, and a dumb idea.

The g9 mouse is superior. It is way faster in response time. The laser engine is new gen technology. If you have a wide hand, this mouse is for you. It does take a bit to get use to but once you're use to it, you won't be able to go back.

So if you're still unsure, just remember. the G7 is a discontinued product and no more setpoint releases are coming after 4.50

If you don't mind unreliable mousing and you're willing to sacrifice that for a pretty, "badass" looking mouse, go ahead and get the G7.

But If you are a serious gamer, cordless is not the way. The g7 is obsolete

G9>G7x100

Period.

634470 2008-02-15 01:36:00 Haven't used these particular 2 products, but I have never liked cordless for gaming. It's very convenient & nice for normal computing, but generally introduces a tiny but noticeable lag in games which screws with your aim.

Also as Slug mentioned, having batteries go flat on you mid -game is about as annoying as it gets.

Personally I used a MX510 until I wore it out, and then replaced it with the new version of the G5. I do find the 1600dpi setting too sensitive for my personal taste though.

Some good alternatives to consider are microsofts habu gaming mouse, they have sorted out the early driver issues I believe, and the Razor series. I stuck with Logitech because I find them more comfortable.

That is why you replace the batteries before you go into a game if the indicator is low... Common sense really...

There is a lag. Anyone who has owned several high grade ball, optic and laser mice corded and cordless would know off the bat that there is a noticeable lag with any cordless mouse. It's not huge, but it is noticeable.

Okay so you change your battery right before you game right? well what if you game for over 24 hrs? sounds silly, but there are gamers that game for that long, or longer.

Either way, if you're hardcore lanning, you're going to have to change those batteries.

And BTW:

2.4ghz doesn't mean anything. It's just frequency RANGE, not SPEED. The mouse is not a CPU. so 2.4ghz will give you the lovely option of using your mouse from the other side of the apartment, but that's about it.

There is lag on another wireless mouse in this mouse, but there is nothing noticeable on my G7.

You are going to pause for food or drink. In between loading levels, there is plenty of time to change the battery... only takes me 15 seconds.

Then prove that the difference between lag and no lag on the 2 mice here running on the 2 difference frequencies is caused by the frequency.

634474 2008-02-15 21:55:00 I have the G7 mouse, its a great mouse, except I have a problem with the length the battery last, which can feel quite short when you have to change it everyday sometimes twice when a full day of gaming is required!!
Also as its 2.4GHz it interferes with my wireless broadband which is also 2.4 Ghz
this cause the mouse to freeze with the solution to remove and replace the USB.

634475 2008-02-16 01:31:00 Advantage of a cordless mouse::yuck:
1. No cord

Advantage of a corded mouse::thumbs:
1. No lag
2. No 2.4 GHz interference
3. No batteries

So I.M.H.O. a corded mouse is better.

Go to a lan and check out what the gamers there use or go to a gaming website and find out there, I would say most would have a corded mouse for gaming.

A cordless mouse for internet, multimedia etc, sure but not for gaming when its important!!!:D

I'm sorry you were not given the elite senses of noticing delays in the milliseconds, but you cannot deny science.

There is a lag, and I don't need to prove anything because the specifications of the cordless mouse gives away the conclusion that there will be (not much, but still) some LAG

ACCEPT IT already.
