Yes I had tried looking at this and followed it through to where you can set the behaviour traits.
But I wondered if there was any way of deleting items or adding items to this "bit where the clock is"

At the moment I am at the point where I feel the set up here is deliberately arranged so that people like me do not foul things up. Even so I bet I can- and that's without even trying!

If you go start-run-msconfig, look at start up and you will see all apps etc that start when you open,so if you take out ticks of items you don't wish to open, then computer will start quicker.

That should be fun.

634414 2008-01-28 22:48:00 Most things in the "bit by the clock" can be stopped from appearing in the system tray thru their own config properties.

Somewhere there is usualy a checkbox or something with "show in system tray" or "close to system tray" etc.

Trouble is, sometimes the hard part is finding exactly where the "somewhere" is!

You might be interested in something like this here (http://www.activetray.com/) which may be a lot easier and can add all kinds of things to the tray as well :)

Or you could look thru here (www.freedownloadscenter.com) for something else

634415 2008-01-29 06:35:00 You can also try a system Restore

Why would you try a system restore for a very, very simple problem sucha s the one in question. Its like buying a chainsaw to cut a piece of string.

It still works doesn't it? The string does get cut in the end

But Thomas, if you want to make "thingies" appear or not appear in the "little clock bit" then you need to right click on the taskbar, click on Properties and then click on Customize. There you can specify which icons you want appearing or not appearing.
