634809 2008-01-28 11:40:00 Today I treated myself to a 8800gts 320mb for $270.

I noticed it need a 400W power supply which I had so I went ahead and bought it.

I then relised it also needed the power supply to be able to do 12v@25a.

Mine is only 12v@18a, Am I screwed, or is there hope?

634810 2008-01-28 12:01:00 What brand is the PSU?

I'd buy a minimum of a decent brand 450W.

634811 2008-01-28 20:21:00 12V@25A is the absolute maximum the card could draw. They state that spec just to cover all the bases. Is your PSU an ATX 2.x version? If so then it will probably have 2 12V rails in which case probably add to more than 25A.

If not then stick the card in your computer and give it a go, you will most likely be able to run it fine, if it is not receiving adequate power then all you will see is a message stating "Nvidia drivers have detected that this card is not receiving enough power and performance has been throttled down" or whatever the actual message is supposed to say (that was quoted from memory).
