| 634679 | 2008-01-28 06:28:00 | I have an old Dell Dimension l800cxe runs windows Millennium edition with intel celeron, it was all working fine when at one point the cd drive stopped working. It wasn't even registering it in my computer. I looked inside and push all the cables. The drive still didn't work. Then about a week on I turned it on and found the on indicator didn't go on only the fan and one of the lights on the ethernet card. Those are all the details I have and I would really appreciate any help that anyone may be able to give. Thanks Mack |

Do you hear any beeps from the computer when you try to boot it up? Have you tried to remove the cables from the CD device completely and then start it up? |

| 634681 | 2008-01-28 08:49:00 | but where in Vista do you go to disable all the over the top security features? That would be where you remove off Vista and install Windows XP  :D runescapemaster, under "Device Manager", is there a yellow exclamation mark beside the CD drive? (I am not entirely sure what you meant by "It wasn't even registering it in my computer") Cheers :) |

Does the computer boot now? Do you get any beeps? |

| 634683 | 2008-01-29 04:18:00 | This thread was well and truly hijacked while the poster is still requiring help for their technical problem. However, the addition of a poll on a totally different subject matter to the problem obviously contributed to it. I have moved all the OT discussion to a new thread here (pressf1.co.nz). I would have moved the poll too if I knew how to. runescapemaster> do you have any more updates after the suggestions so far? |

| 634684 | 2008-01-29 04:34:00 | Welcome to PressF1 runescapemaster With the age of the PC, assuming it was built when ME was installed, the Board or other components may have died. With the PC turned off, remove the RAM, press the power button, and see if you get beeps indicating no RAM. Also look to make sure there is a speaker of some kind, either conencted to the Board, or inbuilt speaker on the board. it was all working fine when at one point the cd drive stopped working. It wasn't even registering it in my computer This could be either a Power Supply problem, Faulty Ribbon, or with older boards, more offten the case the IDE slot died - can be the first signs of board failure. |

| 634685 | 2008-01-29 05:16:00 | Sounds like the board could be failing. Also id ont quite understand whether you can still use the computer, is it still logging on and functional, etc. You could also try using a different ide cable although this sounds unlikely, more like a deade mobo. What are the motherboard specs? Ram (DDR, SDRAM), CPU socket (478, 370)? | nzjab06 (101) | ||
| 634686 | 2008-02-24 01:51:00 | Sorry my internet connection has seemed to have gone bad too but I dont get any beeps nothing and what I mean by not regestering is that the drive was not displayed in my computer. | runescapemaster (13333) | ||
