635523 2008-01-30 08:33:00 I would like to have a clean install of firefox, but can't get it to work. I want to do this because my addons drive me mad, they are all there, but do not work and can't uninstall them. So I uninstalled Firefox, had a registry cleaner running after that, then use ccleaner (love that one) and made a clean firefox install from the pcworld disk (version 2.0.0.11). After restarting FF, my old add ons are still there !! And still they are uninstallable !! How do I get rid of them ? Please help !!

Cheers

635524 2008-01-30 08:36:00 Your using XP or Vista? For XP...

Backup your bookmarks if you want to save them...

Uninstall Firefox, delete the C:\Documents and settings\*your user name*\Application Data\Mozilla folder.

Also delete the C:\Documents and Settings\*your user name*\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla folder.

And the C:\Program Files\Mozilla folder.

Then reinstall.

Make sure viewing of hidden folders and files is enabled, as application data and local settings are hidden folders.

1. Close all programs so that you are at your desktop.
2. Double-click on the My Computer icon.
3. Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
4. After the new window appears select the View tab.
5. Under the Hidden files and folders section select the radio button labeled Show hidden files and folders.
6. Press the Apply button and then the OK button and shutdown My Computer.
7. Now your computer is configured to show all hidden files.

635526 2008-01-30 08:40:00 First thing first. Backup your bookmarks!!!

Then

Uninstall Firefox, manually goto the folder it was installed at. Delete it.

Now

Goto C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Mozilla

Now, delete the contents of that folder.

Reinstall Firefox

Fingers crossed.
