| 635138 | 2008-01-29 21:35:00 | Guys, Ive got a mates computer here that has been connected to the internet but is no longer. (kids can find something else to do) Anyway, he/I cant do anything without being nagged by Windows Genuine Advantage that his software is pirated. It isnt, it all came with the computer and looks absolutely genuine to me. Ok, it may be trying to ring home and cant because there is no Internet connection any longer? Tuff! I thought there was already a thread on this site about dealing with the situation but I cant find it. Anyway, by now Im sure there will be an accepted method of dealing with the problem so Im looking for what the consensus is on the easiest way to remove this Trojan. Google provides numerous kills and even downloadable programmes to do the job, but I thought Id ask here first before I make a choice. :D |

There are a few bugs about that change this and say its no longer Genuine, if you have these then you need to install antispyware and antivirus software to clean the PC. If you are certain its Genuine, then the COA should be on the PC someplace. Call MS on 0800 676 334, and reactivate it. When you select activate by telephone support, select " Change Product Key" type in the COA on the PC and then "update" - if theres no internet connection select telephone, and punch in the 42 numbers as required on the screen, if it comes back as invalid, talk to someone at MS, and they will reactivate it for you and then give you new 42 numbers. You may need to supply the COA code. |
