635039 2008-01-29 05:40:00 I got home from work today, fired up the Thunderbird e-mail programme, and noticed I'd sent myself a message. (At 3:45pm, the PC was on, but the modem was turned off)

What can I do to make sure I'm not spamming thousands of users?

635040 2008-01-29 05:43:00 Well, if u didnt send it, have you scanned for viruses etc??

Sounds like a worm or something.

WHAT did the email say?

Better not reply with any website links tho.

I'm scanned with Avast and Spybot, not showing anything.

635042 2008-01-29 05:50:00 Just ignore it.
It is just a spam email sent with your address in the From field.

635044 2008-01-29 20:31:00 Type in netstat -a into a CMD window and see what/who is connected to your PC.

Before you do it shut down any downloads, web browsers etc and give them time to time out. If you have messenger live running it will show up as connected.

This is just to check that you have not been hacked, which anti virus and anti spyware etc do NOT always pick up as I found the hard way.

635045 2008-01-29 23:48:00 Sounds like your email address has been harvested off the net and it being used by spammers. They will drop it and move on to someone else.It should stop after a day or so. Pancake (6359)
