634885 2008-01-28 22:12:00 In the past I have clicked on f8 to open in safe mode, now I get........

Boot Menu
Select boot 1st device
removable floppy hard disc
1st master
1st slave, and so on with no mention of safe mode facility.

Could I ask what is afoot ?

634886 2008-01-28 22:25:00 You might be hitting F8 too soon.
That looks like the BIOS boot device options screen.

634887 2008-01-28 22:34:00 You have to press F8 twice. ASUS mobos also use F8 (the boot menu).

Once the boot menu appears select the hdd, then press / hold F8 down.

For the other screen to come up, then select safe mode.

It is an Asus, but all it does if I hold f8 down is vibrate, the same as the rest of the options?

634889 2008-01-29 02:40:00 When you hit the F8 key during the latter phase of the BIOS check, on some computers you may get a boot device menu, offering you your choice of devices to boot from, i.e. floppy disk, IDE device, CD-ROM, etc. If this happens, use the up/down arrows to select your hard drive or IDE device, press enter and then immediately press the F8 key. You will then get the Advanced Boot Menu. Note that it helps to already have a second finger over the F8 key before you press the enter key.

hope that may be some help
