635000 2008-02-06 06:50:00 Thanks, the 'DxWebsetup' said my installation was already fully up to date so it didn't need to do anything.

Im just downloading the new drivers which you gave me the links to, thanks, but how did you know which ones will work for my hardware?

Hopefully, this terror will be over soon.

Thanks for all of the help everyone!

Edit:

Which are the exact drivers to uninstall? just to double check..
I go into device manager -
alright...:

Display adapters-> MSI MS-StarForce GeForce4 MX 440 with AGP8X (NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 440 with AGP8X). Sounds like this is one..

Sound, video and game controllers-> Realtek AC'97 Audio for VIA (R) Audio Controller. ???? yes??

ummm - no idea where to find/uninstall the motherboard.

Thanks

My motherboard is a:
Gigabyte K7 Triton Series 7VAXP-A Ultra

If that's correct then those drivers will be also.

And you already said you had a GeForce 440 MX....

So unless you're using a separate sound card then there should be no problem (and I won't look like an idiot :p )

635002 2008-02-06 07:03:00 Hahaha, should I have listed my soundcard? oops, I think I just did anyway.

That makes sense.

Thanks

635004 2008-02-10 02:52:00 umm *Cough* would anyone be able to share where I find all of the drivers

thanks

635005 2008-02-10 05:28:00 Likely there will be uninstalls for the drivers in add/remove programs in control panel.

Otherwise just install the new ones and they should automatically update yours to the newest versions (uninstalling through device manager doesn't usually work)

635006 2008-02-11 04:28:00 Hmm thats interesting...
I can't find any for my motherboard under add/remove programs.

I'll keep looking

thanks.

635007 2008-02-11 08:11:00 It's probably using the standard microsoft drivers for the motherboard, just install the new ones to replace them. Agent_24 (57)
635008 2008-02-11 08:15:00 Motherboard drivers dont usually put an entry in add/remove programs.

Only the sound, LAN, and video drivers do.

Some motherboard drivers may put an smb controller entry in device manager tho.

Depending on the brand/model of the mobo.

You're meant to install the mobo inf file first, before everything else. After a clean install. NOT after everything else.

635009 2008-02-11 10:27:00 VIA 4-in-1 drivers will put an entry in add/remove, so will nforce drivers, and others, though likely in this case they're just using standard microsoft drivers so nothing will be there. In that case it would be OK (even if not preferable) to install the drivers afterwards - nothing bad will happen Agent_24 (57)
