2008-01-31 07:28:00 | Looking up your Stop Error code, it seems it could be defective ram (on motherboard or Video card, perhaps do a memory test (on the m'board; swap the card to test that); or a hardware conflict (have you installed any new hardware?); or a driver problem/conflict; one or two other things came up but these are most likely. Have a look at your Device Manager in Control panel, and see if you've got any conflicts/problems in there e.g. yellow icons in the list. That 'axwskbus.sys' is something to do with 'Plug and Play Bios Extension', 'classpnp.sys' sounds of similar ilk, so could tie in with a hardware conflict/problem; also check your CMOS battery isnt going flat (might well be, comp old enough), this could bugger up your BIOS settings and cause strange problems. Check the capacitors on the mother board arent leaking while you're checking the battery ;)

2008-01-31 23:46:00 | Thanks, I'll be trying to work it out soon. note: I don't think it is a RAM issue though, because we opened it up and took them out one by one yet it made no difference at all. I don't remember installing any new hardware, as it happened a while ago and the computer has been fixed many times. Seriously, thank you all sooo much for your help

2008-01-31 23:52:00 | so this problem has happened before? and been fixed? what was the solution? | Agent_24 (57) | |
2008-02-01 02:37:00 | It had happened before, but I don't know what fixed it, then we restarted this machine (Scratch) and after a while it didn't work again. I mean the computer has had upgrades etc to its hardware etc quite alot. I've got no yellow conflicts that I can see Thanks Edit: (I see under device manager -> system devices - then there is 'Plug and play BIOS extension' , should I uninstall it? I tried to update it but it didn't find anything) Thanks

2008-02-01 02:56:00 | Oh, classpnp.sys's description is 'SCSI Class System Dll' Is something really screwed with my BIOS do you think? My motherboard is a: Gigabyte K7 Triton Series 7VAXP-A Ultra (AGP8X/DDR400+/FSB333) (Supports AMD Athlon XP Processor) Thanks

2008-02-01 22:01:00 | Alright, Last night I ran memtest (thanks for the link btw) and it went for 18 hours but didn't find anything wrong. Cheers

2008-02-01 22:43:00 | Well that should prove your RAM to be fine then If your BIOS was screwed the PC wouldn't even start - and an update is unlikely to help as the only newer versions just add extra CPU support. I guess it could still be your video card - have you tried another?

2008-02-02 00:06:00 | Thanks, Havn't tried another yet, I'll try to find a spare sometime soon. Cheers | Curbd (13334) | |
2008-02-02 19:30:00 | Hey, when I looked at my computer clock this morning - its says 11:15 pm, which was around when it was turned off last night. Will this BIOS battery really make a good difference if I get a new one? And could it be the answer? Cheers.
