635164 2008-01-30 04:00:00 If buying as a consumer, the CGA comes into play and the seller must replace or refund within a consumer-realistic time frame, which broadly speaking shouldn't exceed 14 days but expectation would be <7.

Problem is the total disregard of the CGA by most retailers & wholesalers.

Ive been told by one of our suppliers, that they arnt covered or bound by the CGA (which is true as they sold to us & we retailed it.)
So we got stuck in the middle.

That's the major flaw in the CG Act. It should really provide some flow-on muscle for the Retailer so that they don't end up as the meat in the sandwich. That would also make warranty claims a little less stressful for the end users.

635166 2008-01-30 05:14:00 I've had a horrible experience with an RMA process, with a shop which will remain nameless for now. It took 3 weeks to process an RMA, even after repeated phone calls and assurances that the technician will "look at it this afternoon". Eventually, it was sorted, though their justification for it taking so long was "some customers have been waiting more than 2 months", implying that I was lucky. somebody (208)

635168 2008-01-30 09:59:00 I had to RMA a video card from supercheap once, took about 3 weeks I think (but then that's supercheap)

Also had to RMA another card from TasTech which only took a couple of days
