635348 2008-01-30 06:39:00 Hi all

I have made a DVD from a home movie and want to transfer it onto my PC for editing. It plays fine on the DVD player in the lounge, but not in the DVD drives on any of the PCs I have.

When inserted, it shows up in My Computer as 'CD Drive' and the icon shows 'DVD-RW'. OS's tried on are all Win XP Home/Pro SP2. DVD player is a Panasonic one. Disc Speed: 1-2x; DVD-RW disc.

How can I get the DVD to play?

635349 2008-01-30 10:07:00 What was the DVD created on originally?
Was the disc finalised?

635350 2008-01-30 19:29:00 The DVD was burnt on a DVD recorder

It was a DVD-RW disc - not sure if these can be finalised.

635351 2008-01-30 19:39:00 What program are you using to attempt to play the DVD on in the PC's - and can you double click, or right click the DVD and see its contents ? wainuitech (129)

635353 2008-01-30 20:29:00 I think VLC will play DVDs or if you download a codec pack like K-Lite, that will allow DVD playback too. autechre (266)
