| 635116 | 2008-01-29 08:50:00 | Hello, I recently brought a new laptop off a mass seller on trade me ( I know I know), And I requested XP Pro on it, to which the seller complied obligingly. I am having a few little glitchy running problems now which I think may be due to this, but I am not an expert, hence my questions.... Its an Asus A8JR x2300 ATI graphics thing 4-ish gig of ram Not sure what other details will help. Problems are (as far as I know) *After letting Xp do its billion updates, the ATi Catalytic Control Center goes mental on startup, displaying 3 separate error messages then closeing. *The Asus live update program when running has no visible text, and then will close displaying an error. *And outlook express, since doing XP's updates refuses to connect to my Hotmail account. I think they're probably easily fixed things but I don't know where to start in getting it all up and running smoothly. I have emailed the seller on this issue aswell and not yet placed feedback, just trying to see if its something simple I can sort out myself. Anyone have some advice? I have screen shots of the error messages if they would help. |

| 635117 | 2008-01-29 09:06:00 | Have you installed the .Net Framework 2.0? Pretty sure this is needed for the ATI Catalyst Control Center. This may be the same problem with the Asus softwaer. In regards to the OE and Hotmail problem I thought that this couldn't be done anymore unless you have a paid account with Hotmail??? |

| 635118 | 2008-01-29 09:13:00 | Er......... According to ASUS Site: DDR2 667 MHz DRAM, 2x SO-DIMM socket expandable to 2GB I doubt it has 4GB. Don't use ASUS Live update, which is only really for BIOS updates anyway. MS often replaces drivers, re-download the ATI driver for your GPU. From ATI, NOT Microsoft. |

Net Framework 2 . 0 thing and did a repair install (must have already had it) . And that ATI CCC thing now appears to operate . Nice! When I had looked earlier for drivers I hadn't had much success . Also, I did not know that about Outlook express and Hotmail paid accounts, Is this true? |

| 635120 | 2008-01-29 09:35:00 | Also, I did not know that about Outlook express and Hotmail paid accounts, Is this true? Not OE, this comes with Windows and works with any normal ISP email server. Hotmail have a free version as well as a pay version, which is what you need to be able to access it via OE. |

I think I need to update windows less often |

| 635123 | 2008-01-29 09:56:00 | Quick look on google would look like you are right. Sounds like there may be a way around it cause I really found it handy being able to do that. |

| 635124 | 2008-01-29 10:12:00 | You cant access Hotmail accounts through OE or whatever until you've either paid or you have a REALLY old account with them. Trust me, I've tried to get it to work. | beeswax34 (63) | ||
| 635125 | 2008-02-08 13:14:00 | Bump for a new problem. Tried to view laptop over tv with the S-Video port and a S-video converter type plug. Tryed playing with all the display settings and the button to switch screens etc. But will only keep saying 'LCD', then 'LCD' again and never gets to S-video output. What is the trick to this? |
