634925 2008-01-29 01:38:00 Hi guys,

I'm building an Intel quad-core system (Q6600).

What do I need power-supply wise? How many watts? Any specific features I need?

Tom.

634926 2008-01-29 01:46:00 Ernemax is a good brand. What (if any) graphics card are you planning on putting in the machine? A 530w should be a good size, assuming your not SLIing 8800GTXs or something silly like that. :p wratterus (105)

GFX will be handled by a 8600GT

634929 2008-01-29 05:23:00 Also consider other devices you are using (e.g Fans, two HDD's, Powerful Graphics, Extra PCI cards). Whatever you choose thought the rule "The more power the better" should be appied. nzjab06 (101)

I'm running my computer (specs in sig) on that exact power supply, I was a bit worried at first that with 4 Hdds it would run a bit low on power but 3 weeks in I have not had any issues whatsoever, even running overclocked hasn't fazed it.

634931 2008-01-29 19:31:00 You could probably get away with a good quality 400W but I would probably go with a 500W to allow for future upgrades. The one you selected will do the job well. Mark Gribble (13074)
