306622 2004-12-24 00:10:00 well you can do that in your area, set up some wireless nodes, get the hardware and your up and running, they have that sort of thing going on down here in southland. i was reading somewhere that it can get coverage of a radius of 80km, but it would need a few adjustments, very good for gaming as there is no load on the servers or something. i was thinkin of setting one up for my self and a friend that lives 20km away

linkage (http://wireless.digitalsouth.net.nz/) take a look around there.

306623 2004-12-24 09:55:00 Yea, me and 2 of my mates put nearly $1000 into gear, hoping to get a network over 1km up and running, but couldn't even get it going over 300m...

Looking back - we needed to do alot more research, and we were thinking of trying it agian these holi's - but decided we'd try Wi Max when (if) it comes out.

Oh, and regarding the $1k, we got most of it back - as we sold it to someone hu really liked the idea, and was pretty well off $ wise!
