636110 2008-02-01 01:30:00 Hey guys, I'm using the software ASUS PC probe and at idle my CPU temp is 42C and my Mobo temp is 44C.

When I start playing a game and the motherboard temp gets to 45C and a bit over I think. When it gets over 45C PC probe gives me a 'exceeded temperature threshold thing' and I kinda get scared >< is this really bad? or should I turn up the threshold of the mobo.

636111 2008-02-01 01:43:00 It's hitting temps over 50C >< CaptainVincent (76)
636112 2008-02-01 01:52:00 Okay, I tried playing crysis for 5 mins, GPU temps hit 70C CPU hit 50C and Mobo hit 50C. CaptainVincent (76)
636113 2008-02-01 02:23:00 Even 70 isn't worth worrying about for the GPU. 40 and 50 is pretty normal for this time of year. If your really worried about it, clean dust out of the case and fans, tie up loose cables to help airflow and install more fans. wratterus (105)
636114 2008-02-01 02:29:00 After about 20 mins gameplay, cpu and mobo hit 52 and gpu 72. I don't think it goes any higher so I guess im safe. CaptainVincent (76)
636115 2008-02-01 03:47:00 Generally if things get to hot like your graphics card, it well shut down the computer ( I have had it happen ) not to sure about the cpu. Check out AMDs site for temp ranges of cpu. My P4 2.53 according to intels site can operate up to 85c before you have to worry about it.

636116 2008-02-01 04:44:00 .......and Mobo hit 50C.
thats hardrive killing temp. it wil depend a bit on the room temp, but i would say you have a case cooling problem.
what case fans do you have in what locations ?

636117 2008-02-01 05:17:00 What case are you using? nzjab06 (101)
636118 2008-02-01 09:58:00 I'm using a trendsonic case. very decent size, can hold up to 4 dvd drives. Has 2 really big fans (one on powersupply, one at front of case) and one cpu fan. It is a bit loud >< Is 50C for mobo that bad? CaptainVincent (76)
636119 2008-02-01 10:07:00 Don't use Asus Probe. Piece of crap, that's what it is. I once used it and for some reason my CPU temp was -152 degrees, GPU -283 degrees, and northbridge (mobo) was at -78 degrees.

Download Everest Ultimate trial. It will tell you your system temp rather accurately.
