| 635875 | 2008-01-31 08:51:00 | Hi all I have a friend's PC that was infected with a virus (she thought she'd got rd of it) . Since just before Christmas (so she tells me) she can't change her desktop background - the list of images is greyed out . Browse can't be clicked . Have googled the issue but can't come to any particular conclusion - I have'nt got easy access to the PC . She's also a novice user . note: the Background tab is displayed in Display properties and the previous background is displayed for a second at logon . Any ideas on how to restore the background-changing ability? I vaguely remember changing a setting in FreshUI related to this, but would like to know which reg entry it changes . OS=Windows XP home SP2 |

| 635876 | 2008-01-31 08:56:00 | If I remember correctly when I fixed a granddaughters computer around Xmas, it was something to do with Active Desktop. I know I fixed it, but can't remember how. See if there are any posts on F1 from me, as I know this is the first place I would of asked about it. | supergran (108) | ||

Click the Web tab in the Desktop Items window. 6. Untick " My current Home Page" Example (www.imagef1.net.nz) and untick anything else there as well. Don't try right clicking desktop as you may normally do, if active desktop, or web desktop is enabled this wont work. I have a friend's PC that was infected with a virus This will be left over from the virus more than likely. You should then be able to change the desktop to what ever you want. |
