635789 2008-01-31 02:04:00 I have a Lenova laptop with Windows Vista. I have purchased a DSE USB serial adaptor to run a ham radio morse programme. The adaptor came with a cd driver disc and the instructions to insert it and choose a driver.
I inserted it and tried to access it from My Computer and vista told me to insert a disc which was already inserted. So I pressed the wee button which normally opens the disc container and nothing happens. So decided to shut down vista to see if it would open when windows shut down. Now I can't shut down windows.
So I have a cd stuck in the laptop and windows wont shut down.
Help Help Help somebody please.

635790 2008-01-31 02:15:00 First try this - go to My Computer ( actually Computer no My) / Right click the drive and select Eject. If this doesn't work try this - Hold down the Power Button that you normally press to turn on the Laptop, this will turn it off.

Next get something metal, like a paper Clip straighten it out, if you look on the optical Drive face someplace there will be a tiny hole, poke the paper clip in that you should feel a slight "click"- this will pop open the Drive a small amount, pull out the cd tray , remove the CD.

DON'T do this while the Laptop is running.
