308390 2004-12-28 21:30:00 Hi Fellow F1ers,

I feel that some of the language in Press F1 is confusing. I.e. someone asked what a RSS feed was, and another said the ads were suxxors or something like that.

I know what an RSS feed is, but hell, I don't know what suxxors means.

Hope the moderators or the technical team can make a FAQ about the language of press F1 which can be updated as time goes by to add new words and language. Kinda like a dictionary.

This would be beneficial to those who are new to computers or this forum.

308391 2004-12-28 21:32:00 There are sites available that detail explanations for suchs slang and acronyms.

IIRC Metla posted one a short while ago referreing to "meh".

You don't think this thread belongs in Press F1 section? And should be in PC World Chat?

It is not an OT subject. I am talking about a technical issue related to Press F1, and besides it is the moderators job to move the thread, not yours.

Chill,

I did a google search for "suxx0rs" and it comes up with a list of other forums complaining about their problems. Tried "suxx0rs definition", and did not make things any easier.

A one stop shop with all the common words and their definitions used in Press F1 could be put here for ease of use.

This isn't a technical problem, and it certainly isn't a computer support issue.

Anyway as a "Research Scientist" it should have been fairly obvious to you that "suxx0rs" is basically the same as sux.

www.urbandictionary.com

Even if this forum did have a glossary (aside Google) I hardly think that suxx0r would warrant being in it.

308396 2004-12-28 22:14:00 I think you will find the meaning here (www.urbandictionary.com) it makes it harder when they cant even use their gibberish correctly.:groan:

I dont mind it so much as long as plenty of others are using it, it is not to bad to pick up.

308397 2004-12-28 22:44:00 Ninja,

Who said I was a research scientist in language?

And I believe any word used every now and then warrants being in the glossary. Suxx0rs was used several times over the last few months, so that warrants being a frequently used word suitable for a Press F1 Glossary.

I don't mind people using this language too unless it can be explained what it means, but don't over do it.
