| 636336 | 2008-02-02 22:05:00 | I'm with Xnet's FS/FS and I get 7.5mbps down and about 380kbps up. The latter is really no good for online gaming, especially hosting. | --Wolf-- (128) | ||

Then explain why my connection speed (up and down) more than doubled when I moved from Xtra to Xnet. |

| 636339 | 2008-02-02 23:50:00 | How is cable (as opposed to ADSL) a downside? I meant if cable was not available in the area, not all places can get cable, so ADSL is the only other option apart from wireless. So if you need faster uploading speed, and its legit, then there really shouldn't be a problem getting it, there may be a price differance - but the ISP can tell you whats what. If you are hosting a gaming site - it would chew through your monthly total - so these things need to be looked at before you get hit with a huge invoice the following month. |

Your ADSL is still coming from Telecom and the speed of you plan is controlled by them but the difference is you are using Xnet bandwidth and not going through Xtra network. There is a difference between Xtra and Telecom they are not the same thing. Have you not noticed that all ISP plans have the same speed options, this is not because of some collusion between them, it is because these are the only options that Telecom sell to them. |

| 636341 | 2008-02-03 00:28:00 | Thats why I prefer telstra Cable - they can tell Xtra /Telecom where to go. They are not reliant on them, like most of the other ISP are. |
