2008-02-05 15:31:00 | This gets more interesting. I went back and looked at the Microsoft updates and found that there was an update on the Nvidia nforce network adapter on the morning just before the problem occurred. So it seems certain that Microsoft was the cause of my problem. | jetrobert (13351) | |
2008-02-05 16:05:00 | I went back and looked and the update that Microsoft installed was to the driver for the Nvidia nforce network adapter. Now all doubt is erased. Microsoft caused this problem. I have disabled automatic updates. | jetrobert (13351) | |
2008-02-05 20:50:00 | jetrbert I have exactly the same problem as you described. I have been manually changing the driver setting everyday. (right click the driver with the yellow triangle and choose my driver) Since my computer is set for auto update, Vista automatically loads the wrong driver at 5:00pm. Like you, the problem started after MS downloaded some driver. I am surprised that MS hasn't fixed this themselves. My other problem is that I can't change the update setting from automatic to manual. I am an Administrator but the setting for manual is greyed out. I am also running Vista Home premium on a HP AMD Pavilion. Any thoughts or anyone else. BTW I am from Canada but this was the only site I found with the same issue.

2008-02-06 20:37:00 | Frenz, Sorry to see you are having the same problem. I don't understand why you cannot change your settings if you are the administrator. I had no trouble with doing that. I think you probably need to go to HP support and see if you can figure that out. BTW, the troublesome update is still there on my pc. You can right click on any update and select Hide to prevent it from being installed in the future. I contacted Microsoft on this issue and they weren't much help in explaining why it happened.

2008-02-06 22:05:00 | Thanks I will hide the driver. It's not bad enough I have to shovel a foot of snow today, I have to worry about this.
