636121 2008-02-01 11:20:00 No. On hot days my overclocked 8800GTS gets up to 75. My mobo gets up to 35. qazwsxokmijn (102)
636122 2008-02-01 11:57:00 My gpu gets up to 70C+ but my mobo gets to like 55-56C sometimes, Isn't that insanely bad? CaptainVincent (76)
636123 2008-02-01 12:11:00 No, 70 is standard for most GPU nowadays, motherboard is slightly high but depending on your chipset it could be normal, I wouldn't worry about it.

It's when you see your CPU hitting 70 then you should start to be worrying

636124 2008-02-01 12:13:00 Motherboard threshold on the program that came with the motherboard is set to 45C by default >< I get warnings and stuff from it =( CaptainVincent (76)
636125 2008-02-01 12:18:00 Asus PC Probe is pretty horrible IMO, and since it's designed for practically all the asus boards out there, there's no way the default thresholds are accurate. Agent_24 (57)

YES you should be majorly concerned.

remove a side panel, does MOBO temp drop?
use a house hold fan to blow air into case, does the temp drop?

if it does then you have a case cooling problem.
ideal case/mobo temp is within 5 degrees of room temp.
at 55- 56 degrees your hardrives will fry, not to mention north/south bridge run way to hot and things like the power transistors on the mobo will cook.

PSU fan + front fan would not produce enough airflow. fit a rear fan (one that is full size of the grill. ie don't fit a 80 if it fits a 120).
even moving the front fan to the rear would be an improvement.
also check direction, make sure some dumb bugger didn't fit one in backwoulds

636127 2008-02-02 03:49:00 ASUS states on there website that there motherboards can run safely at 65C. CaptainVincent (76)
636128 2008-02-02 04:57:00 ASUS states on there website that there motherboards can run safely at 65C.

Then you will have to decide whether to believe tweak'e or the ASUS site as to what is good or bad.

I can assure you that tweak'e knows what he is talking about and even if ASUS say that their motherboards can run safely at 65°C you will do damage sooner rather than later if high mobo temperatures are the norm.

636129 2008-02-02 05:14:00 Kk on monday I'm going to take it to a computer store, get things moved around for better ventilation and get more sufficient cooling. Thanks guys. CaptainVincent (76)
