2008-01-31 02:22:00 | Hi all, I've just upgraded my video card after thinking that the old one was shot (see pressf1.pcworld.co.nz) I've put the new one in (Albatron 6800GT AGP) but still have the same problems. The monitor is still blank and not coming out of standby and now theres a high pitch sqeal coming from the new video card. Can anybody tell me what the hell is going on? cheers Ron

2008-01-31 02:29:00 | Have you plugged the power into the graphics card? | wratterus (105) | |
2008-01-31 02:58:00 | I'm not sure what you mean by plugging the power supply in but I've plugged the monitor in to the back of the card, if thats what you mean. Its an AGP card. | demoncleaner (11425) | |

2008-01-31 03:02:00 | www.bjorn3d.com Thats your card. You need to plug a molex (4 pin, red yellow and black) power connector into the black plug on the rear of the card. Like this. www.pcstats.com

2008-01-31 03:03:00 | I see that I only have a 300W power supply, which may be a problem as I read that it needs to be 350 at least. But that doesn't explain my original problem (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz) but the same symptoms are still showing....should I just go and by another mobo...I just want to try my new video card goddamit! | demoncleaner (11425) | |
2008-01-31 03:05:00 | The PSU is probably your problem man. 300w is pitiful, and it's probably some crappy generic brand? Get a new PSU. Theres no way that PSU will handle that card. That could easily explain the original problem too. What motherboard do you have?

2008-01-31 03:13:00 | I see....thanks wratterus, found it and plugged it in...the squealing has stopped but I'm not getting any signal to the monitor, which means I'm back to square one. Any suggestions? thanks..

2008-01-31 03:23:00 | 1st and only suggestion - take it to a tech who can test the hardware properly and recommend a solution. Possibly PSU/Motherboard are faulty.
