| 309209 | 2004-12-31 05:31:00 | Lowlifes will take advantage of any opportunity. Here’s a warning about tsunami email scams. AusCERT has become aware of several fraudulent e-mails, subject lines include "Warning, Tsunami", "Huge ocean wave!" and "Coming Tsunami" circulating in Australia and overseas, which are used to entice the reader to visit malicious web sites. These web sites contain executable javascript code which if successfully executed, will install a trojan program which in turn captures keystrokes when the user visits banking related web sites. They may also install programs which allow malicious users to take control of an infected PC. Other scams include an email asking for help and to donate money direct in to a bank account which is owned by the scammers. Yet another email scam asks for help to get several million dollars out of the country and is basically a copy of the famous Nigerian money scam. If you do want to help then donate directly to a well knowen aid center such as Red-Cross. |
