2008-02-03 23:56:00 | Hi, I currently own a 7900GS and its starting to lag behind with the new games. I'm wanting to upgrade but not sure if i should wait until the NVIDIA 9 series come out. Does anyone know for sure when that will be and if they'll be much better than the top end 8 series cards?. i dont want to spend much more than $400 on a card, i was thinking of the 8800GT, it's had good reviews and beats the 8800GTS in a few things. your opinions and advice please?

2008-02-04 00:01:00 | do you know when the 9 series is coming out? how big do you think the price drop will be on the 8 series cards? | mOOseCaNNoN (13319) | |
2008-02-04 00:04:00 | Not sure exactly when actually, a quick google should get you that info. It will be noticeable, I really don't know how much though. I'm going to wait.

2008-02-04 00:09:00 | i read that they might be released in the next couple of months. i also read: "Yeah... but the 9800GX2 is actually an 8800GX2... pretty pathetic marketing ploy by nvidia... it's just two 8800gt chips on to pcbs slied together to go in a single slot" from here (futuremark.yougamers.com). from what I've gathered the 9 series might not be what we're expecting?

2008-02-04 00:12:00 | I'm guessing it will be a bit like the 7 series, not a big jump up from the 6 series, where the 6 series was a big jump from the 5. 8 was a big jump from 7. Maybe they won't be worth waiting for, but still, the price on the 8 series will drop.

2008-02-04 00:14:00 | If 7 wasn't a big jump from 6, yet 8 was a big jump from 7, then 9 won't be a big jump from 8, therefore wait till the 10 (?) series. | --Wolf-- (128) | |
2008-02-04 00:18:00 | If 7 wasn't a big jump from 6, yet 8 was a big jump from 7, then 9 won't be a big jump from 8, therefore wait till the 10 (?) series. lol, I guess the question is how long are we willing to wait for? in the IT industry you can wait for ever because better things are always round the corner, but you have to just got for it sometimes. wratterus, I will probably go for an 8800GT but wait a couple of months to see if the 9 series drops the price on them :) i hear the 8900's are coming out soon too

2008-02-04 00:24:00 | By the time the 9 series come out and you get an 8800GT, it will be outdated and 9 series will be the minimum  | --Wolf-- (128) | |
