| 637243 | 2008-02-04 00:35:00 | I guess it's NEVER a good time to buy computers. No point trying to stay ahead. Just make a good guess and buy when 9xxx comes out. 8800 sounds like a good bet to me. But it really depends on what you're looking to do with it. crysis is going to run ok on series 20xxx it seems, so you might aswell sli 3 9900's. I'm wanting to upgrade but not sure if i should wait until the NVIDIA 9 series come out. Does anyone know for sure when that will be and if they'll be much better than the top end 8 series cards?. i dont want to spend much more than $400 on a card, i was thinking of the 8800GT, it's had good reviews and beats the 8800GTS in a few things. your opinions and advice please? The question to ask is as always.....what monitor do you have? |

Getting performance around an 8800GS But yeah. 8800GT still seems better to get atm, since there doesnt seem to be any good cards on the near horizon apart from 9600GT (if you want that) |

| 637247 | 2008-02-05 05:52:00 | Another pertinent point is, what is the speed of your CPU/motherboard? If it's older styles you may find that the CPU will be a bottleneck and you won't get the full benefit of a new card. I'd definitely agree with thebananamonkey's last comment... |
