637714 2008-02-05 07:57:00 When starting Eudora an error message saying "Eudora cannot be started from an attachment. Try starting from All Programs or command line".

Started via all programs and direct from the Eudora folder. Did a Google search but found no anwers for a startup error.

This is a XP Pro laptop that has a new user so Eudora has not run under this user before. The old user profile is still present and will be deleted when I get the laptop next.

637716 2008-02-05 10:51:00 Hmmm, there are a few references to it on Google Groups but no solutions.

Yep, you should be able to install the latest version and upgrade but keep all the email data. If that doesn't work then your eudora.ini file is probably not valid (it contains settings such as email accounts, etc).

See here (helpdesk.wisc.edu) for fixing eudora.ini errors.

Thats what I found as well . I will uninstall it and reinstall latest version (it isn't an old version at the mo) . There is no Eudora data on the laptop that needs keep as the data is on the users network h:\ drive . As stated this is a new user of the laptop so old data not an issue . Would have been nice if an easy fix as I have to do it remotely but they have a good net speed and the VPN isn't to bad .
