637561 2008-02-05 01:29:00 Hello members
Does anyone of you use this (www.xnet.co.nz) product?
Are broadband and VOIP working satisfactory together? Phone calls are clear?
Any comments (good and bad) are very much appreciated(of any similar product).

Thanks
NT

637562 2008-02-05 03:17:00 Hi, while I'm not on Fusion as such (next month probably :D) I am a VFX (voice part of fusion) user and Xnet HSI (internet side of fusion) customer. Both work very well, with few outages. Voice quality is excellent. it is as reliable as your internet connection allows, so if you have constant outages at the moment, it might pay to think twice... 637564 2008-02-05 05:15:00 I have signed up to Fusion just last week and hope to be connected to the service on Friday, all going well! notechyet, I will post my comments on this service on this forum when I have assessed the service.

PCTeck, Would be interested on your views on why the VFX was not good for you?

637565 2008-02-05 05:52:00 I run a voip system with asterisk and have no big problems with clarity using G729 codec. Only problem is with the 128K upstream rate it rather limits the number of simultaneous calls you can make.

Only gripe I have with VFX is their policy of locking down you ATA and not supporting non Linksys platforms.

Thanks for the comment. Did you ask them for assistance? Are you on the end of the phone line, more than 4k's?
I sent Xnet a letter that I would potentially be interested in the Fusion "product".
Part of the answer was:"I’ve put your phone number in the line check – and it looks like you are just on the edge of broadband coverage."
With that in mind I am not to sure if I end up like you PCTEK?
I also wonder how it would work with two phone lines? In emergency? In case of (local) power cut?
And not last; I have not received a good cost breakdown! I like and need to compare with the existing setup. All through Telecom with GoLarge broadband(with the breaks on!).

Thanks!
So far my connection has been very reliable except that they(T..om) put breaks in my GoLarge plan.
I have installed a second(Linux) OS and for the first days I had amazing download speeds(like 450-520Kb's). T..com has pulled the breaks on that!
So from that I think my line is ok.
Would you be able to elaborate on the costs a bit more?
Thanks

notechyet & lakewoodlady I suggest you read these posts: (in this order)

pressf1.co.nz
www.geekzone.co.nz (number 5 post in that thread)

For why VFX did not work for pctek

Also it may be worth reading this thread as well: pressf1.co.nz on pctek broadband problems.

637570 2008-02-06 02:34:00 pressf1.co.nz on pctek broadband problems.

You assume a hell of a lot.

One: THe broadband problems are not directly affecting me but rather various poeople off our local exchange where I live.

Two: I have VFX at my business premises which is NOT in Wyndham nor off this exchange.

Xnet couldn't work it out either why it didn't. It did sort of, but I could not get an incoming ring tone no matter what phone I had connected to the VOIP adapter, the SPA2100.

Nor could I get the eftpos terminal to connect at all.
I spoke to half of Xnet about it for some considerable time until I gave up on it as I couldn't afford to spend anymore time on it.

The only thing I can think of is the line is slightly noisy. Affects nothing else not even dial up, but hey, due to a lack of any better explanation............
