638018 2008-02-27 21:59:00 Hi Billy T,

Try logging in to the "Portal" on their website, then my account, make a minor change then update information, this may reactivate your webmail logon.

638019 2008-02-27 22:07:00 My previous post may not be entirely correct.

Manage account and selfcare are probably the correct links I was thinking about.

638020 2008-02-28 01:01:00 I don't believe the method of receiving freenet email is anything to do with what is going on.
My mum uses Outlook and her freenet email is working fine (only down for a couple of days).
My whole family uses freenet webmail only. Hubby's webmail is working fine.
I have had no email for weeks.
Daughter has had sporatic email.

638021 2008-03-05 22:33:00 well, i've had no progress. no new mail since early feb.
logging in to webmail works, but there are errors on the page.
compass haven't got back to me, nor freenet.

i guess i just have to give up on my oldest email address.

638022 2008-03-06 02:46:00 Has anyone using the Webmail access got their folders, stored emails and address book back? My friend is still missing these, but at least she can now send and receive mail. Wrecker Jim (771)
638023 2008-03-14 01:19:00 Finally figured out where the addresses are on webmail. Go to Folders and then find Contacts and subscribe to it and your addresses appear. Now at least I can email everyone and tell them not to email me. Still no emails since 12 February but old emails are there now and addresses so that is some help. Country Bump (13377)
638024 2008-03-17 04:54:00 Xtra / Yahoo have made changes to their email system AGAIN!!! sigh! When will they learn!

Have a read of . xtra . co . nz/help/0,,4155-8603572,00 . html" target="_blank">www . xtra . co . nz

Basically it means (and I have had this confirmed from Xtra Complex Tech Support) that if a business has a domain name that has not been registered by Xtra, and they use the domain name for sending emails, they will have to register EVERY SINGLE email address they have on their domain with Yahoo .

If you have your mail email as someone@free . net . nz, you need to register the freenet address with Yahoo! Same goes for anyone that is using their own domain name e . g . me@mydomain . co . nz

The latest change is supposedly to help stop Spammers using Xtra mail servers, but no other ISP does this!

All I can advise is . . . Change, change, change your ISP!!!! Xtra is dead . . . long live real ISP's that actually care about customers :)

638025 2008-03-17 08:47:00 My previous post may not be entirely correct. Manage account and selfcare are probably the correct links I was thinking about.

I've left FN alone for a while as I've been too busy to worry about it. However, in relation to the advice above, how do I change anything if I have to log in to do it, and as I said previously, I can't login to the Freenet portal.

My logon still works via Mailwasher so go figure!!

Further, what is the relevance of the Xtra/Yahoo stuff mentioned above. I use Xtra DSL for all my connections regardless of ISP (I have Orcon, Yahoo UK, Yahoo US, Freenet & one other I forget right now) and all but Freenet are functioning fine.

Should I be making disaster plans?

Cheers

638026 2008-05-07 23:05:00 Free Net seems to be thoroughly stuffed. I have gone to the extreme of making emergency plans - registering a domain through Register 4 less (http://www.register4less.com), which allows me free unlimited e-mail forwarding. I then give out my e-mail address on that domain and pick the e-mail address I am currently using to get it forwarded to. That way, if my ISP falls over, as freenet seems to have, I can just change the forwarding address and it will still arrive. I hate sending out "I have changed address" mails, then invariably missing people.

By the way, since their 0900 helpline is not being answered and neither are e-mails, I am instead ringing Paul Woodhams, who seems to be Compass' General Manager, on (09) 965 2200, using their extension finder to locate him. One answerphone message left thus far.

That domain registration website looks very dodgy. Why didn't you register the domain with a known company, because if that company ever disappears you could potentially lose the domain.
