Frankie Lane etc Large numbers of old tunes (1920s) have been pulled off sites due to fear of the US "Sonny Bono Copyright Extension Act, 1998" , even tunes for which all players, composers etc are long since dead . Other old tunes are in the public domain, it is very difficult to know what is going on . Frankie Lane is way past my time warp, so to me would be 'modern' :D If a tune isnt on my favourite sites like redhotjazz . com, Dismuke, etc, then It's a question of Googling . Perhaps put 'download' or 'listen' in the search and troll through all the pages . Many audio CD sales sites have 30 second or so sound clips from tracks, it is more difficult to find complete sides . Sometimes as that Cleaning Windows download, the song is hidden within a zip file just to disguise it a bit . So you just have to look . Another way to get tunes would be to go to a streaming site like live365, choose your 'genre', and re-encode the stream . |
