2008-02-07 07:45:00 | My Orcon is back to normal now. PJ | Poppa John (284) | |
2008-02-07 07:50:00 | Not really on topic, but I have had problems with Orcon Mail for a few months, both at home and at work, on 3 different addresses. Every now and then the "please enter your username and password" box would come up...just click OK and it normally would download your mail the second time, a bit annoying though. I called Orcon a few times about it but they just shrugged their shoulders and had no solution. Anyone else experienced this? Increasing the timeouts to 2min+ seems to fix it...but the point is I shouldn't have to do that! ;) I've been getting that for a while now, and have given up and removed Orcon mail from my Outlook settings. Probably not the most 'tech' solution, but seems to have fixed the problem! :D

2008-02-07 12:41:00 | yes definately freenet has gone down. I was not able to access for last 48 Hours. Server was timing out. This afternoon I was able to access their server and login page appeared with a 'new-look' (seems they have upgraded (or my be downgraded :( ) the system. When supplying login/password it was successful once in three times. I have 3 e-mail accounts at freenet address, to my horror all three account were cleaned out 'NO EMAIL' at all!! I have send several e-mails to their customer supportm but assuming their customer support e-mail address is on same system 'support@free.net.nz' so my all mail bunced back. They are acting very unprofessionally, no warning , no message on website, no estimated system update.. shame..very poor approach. AND they charge $1.98 for call at customer support at he 0900 number.

2008-02-07 19:17:00 | Husband checked his freenet webmail page. He said there was a notice about it being down until Friday afternoon. No mail in there, but he is assuming there won't be anything until they are back up and running. Hope this is helpful. Cheers, Marnie

2008-02-07 19:32:00 | I just tried freenet now, there is a username and passwrod page, but when I log in it says there is a temporary problem and to try again later. Popping it with kmail comes up with the same issue. Fingers crossed its solved soon :(

2008-02-07 19:39:00 | ashdave: it looks like Freenet is bouncing emails as well. My girlfriend got this yesterday when trying to email me: <snip> I'm sorry to have to inform you that your message could not be delivered to one or more recipients. </snip> <snip> user unknown. Command output: Invalid user specified. </snip>

2008-02-07 22:16:00 | My Orcon account came back live this morning and is behaving normally again. Freenet came back last night but there were no emails present (should have been 100+) but this morning it is giving a "may be locked for maintenance" response. No response to my email, which doesn't surprise me, I've been waiting 2 years for a response to my last message. I get the feeling that they don't like people who are not paying, and I've maintained the same credit balance of sub-$10 for years because I only ever download and never use the connection for uploading unless adsl is down so I never use up my free minutes. One day I'll go hammer on their door and see what that produces. Re loss of emails, the US site that sends all my Freenet mail automatically locks out the account if mail bounces and has to be reactivated. I checked this morning and it is still live so Freenet must be storing incoming mail as there would have been close to 200 bounces by now if it wasn't. Cheers Billy 8-{)

PS Freenet are actually Compus Communications, and you can freephone them on 0800 640 840. |

Only thing probably this company do not know how to generate money form advertisement etc. Once I was paid customer of freenet for nearly 3+ years and sadly I didn't changed may e-mail address and continue to use this address, but now it is high time and should ditch this service. In past when I had problems, their technical support replies came in months time and several time it never came back. Anyway at this stage I am concerned with my existing mails, if I get it back then I'll plan something else. ------------------------------------------------------ |

2008-02-08 02:30:00 | Make that Compass Communications, and their mail server was up momentarily this afternoon when one solitary email slipped through. Nothing since. They'll get it right eventually but a notice on their website would have been helpful. Looking at their home page you'd think all was sweet. Cheers Billy 8-{) :illogical
