638149 2008-02-07 05:31:00 You could get a DVB-T card and receive it via UHF most likely.

Check out lyngsat.com
for digital freeview frequencies

638150 2008-02-07 07:57:00 If it is one of the official Freeview STBs then you can only access the official Freeview channels. You would need to buy a regular satellite decoder. maccrazy (6741)

CTV 8 Is FTA in Auckland on UHF. If you want FTA Chinese channels the best investment would be a real satellite dish. A 2.4 meter on Chinasat6B will give you heaps.

maccrazy not just a "regular satellite decoder" but TV Card will also pick up Freeview.

Currently a TV card providing it is DVT-S (Satellite) can be split into a sky dish and pick up all freeview channels, OR, hooked up to a bigger Satellite dish and can also pick up some of the Australian and overseas channels.

NZ is currently testing DVB-T (Terrestrial) in a few areas and this should come available mid 2008. The DVB-T will be transmitted via UHF aerials connected to your DVB-T cards.

A few companies making TV cards. See http://www.hauppauge.co.uk for a few models.

There is also a couple of other threads on Freeview on this forum.

As to getting Chinese channels, it is probably better to take apsattv's advice.
