638031 2008-02-06 20:09:00 I tried burning an MP3 CD, with Nero last night.

It burned ok, it played in Windows, no prob at all.

But skipped (at the beginning of every song), on the stereo (the stereo can play MP3 CD's).

I did a search in Google, and other people had the same prob (With Nero 7).

And this prob pointed to the mp3pro files in:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\AudioPlugins

And most sites said to install earlier versions of:

mp3pro.dll, mp3pro_dmo.dll, mp3pro_hlp.dll, and mp3pp.dll

I managed to find earlier versions, and copied them to the above folder.

No change, still skipped on the stereo. So, I thought Nero was the prob. So, uninstalled it. And reinstalled it. Same thing.

Then I thought it was because I had 2 burners (So, I removed the one I installed a few weeks ago). No change. Still skipped.

Then I tried a lightscribe blank cd this morning and it finally worked!

No skipping.

The funny thing is, the above mp3pro files that are installed now, are exactly the same versions as what they were (when the songs skipped).

The CD's I was using before (the ones these MP3's skip on now, worked fine before). They're fine when I make data cd's.

If the CD's I used previously (the cd's the songs were skipping on, were stuffed, wouldnt they play up or something, if I created data cd's)?

I also thought it was because of the speed I was burning the previous cd's at

So, burned the previous cd's at 40x, and 16x, and the cd's still skipped. At 8x the stereo, wouldnt even play it

But these cd's say they can burn up to 52x.

I burned the lightscribe cd at 48x, and it was fine.

638032 2008-02-06 20:15:00 Speedy I have never had any problems with Nero 7. I normally rip my cd's with Goldwave so they are already mp3's, then just create a data cd with nero.

Works fine on my car streo/mp3 player, my DVD/mp3 player and PC.

I have not tried a lightscribe blank as i have not had the lightscribe burner very long.

638033 2008-02-06 20:18:00 I wasnt ripping MP3's with Nero (they're MP3's now).

I was making an MP3 CD, out of the MP3's I've got already.

Wonder if its because I selected AUdio Jukebox in Nero Express?

I'm pretty sure Nero had an option for MP3 CD before, but its not there now

638034 2008-02-06 20:22:00 Try just doing a data cd with nero. I just use smartstart and choose make data cd Bantu (52)
638035 2008-02-06 20:33:00 Just tried with the cd's that were skipping before.

The stereo played it ok, but it still skipped.

The stereo cd/dvd, isnt the prob, because it plays normal brought cd's and DVD's fine. No prob at all.

638036 2008-02-06 21:05:00 From what you mentioned
Then I tried a lightscribe blank cd this morning and it finally worked!

No skipping. I'd say it could be doggy Blank CD's, Some of them no matter what brand do have faults.

Had a few like that myself, once a Whole Stack of 25 were faulty, yet the same brand, same everything on another stack worked fine. One thing you need to look at is " Whats Changed" - if theres been no Nero updates, the drives work OK - only thing that is different is the Media ( CD's).

638037 2008-02-06 21:15:00 lol, well I have a feeling these cd's are the prob.

Out of 7 of them I burned, all 7 skipped

This was out of a spindle of 50 I think it is. Must be at least 25-30 left in the spindle.

Might have to take them back, if I can find the receipt

But then why would they play in Windows, no prob at all?

638038 2008-02-06 21:32:00 If it is the CD's faulty, one reason could be the optical drive(s) in the PC are not so sensitive to any minor faults . It still seems a little odd though they skip at the start of every track, its almost as if the start of the track is slightly damaged when it gets burnt .

You can always pre join all the files together, then burn as one big song with no breaks :p at least you'd only get 1 skip at the beginning .

Out of interest have you tried a different burning program apart from Nero ?

Just in case Nero's doing something silly . I'd also try another Program first that way if it does it on another program, at least you'll know its the CD's .

638039 2008-02-06 21:41:00 I tried that free program cdburner a while ago.

The bloody thing crashed on me lol :badpc:

I'll install it again and try again. First, I'll have to figure out what to do in it.

I havent got the receipt for the cds but I have for the burner. So, if the burner is stuffed, I'll take it back.

638040 2008-02-06 21:51:00 Hi Guys,

Try thinking of the situation like this...

For success, the "burning" drive, the CD-blank, and the "reading" drive all need to be compatible (so built to comply with the same standards).

Each is made by different companies at different times and will NOT be 100% perfect. In fact, each will perform within a certain "tolerance" of the ideal.

If the CD is played on the drive that wrote it, any problems tend to cancel each other out.

If all three links in the chain are slightly less than perferct, could give the situation described. Hard to establish full blame with any one component, and possibly as much an issue with the "reading" drive as anything else.

Guess you could pin-down the situation further by trying the problem CDs in other MP3 compatible drives.
