314079 2005-01-14 20:39:00 This is from the Kerio Newsletter this morning:

>>6. Kerio Personal Firewall Cancels Support for Older Versions of Windows

As of version 4.2, Kerio Personal Firewall will no longer support the Windows 98 and Me operating systems. Windows XP or Windows 2000 will be required to run KPF. The steadily shrinking user base on 9x operating systems, along with difficulty of adapting new technologies to the platform, contributed to the decision to end support. Customers that upgrade their operating systems or purchase new hardware will be able to move their licenses to the updated systems.<<

However Kerio Personal Firewall version 2.1.5 can be downloaded from various sites, Google will tell you, but here are two:

pricelessware.org

download.freenet.de (German site)

I run both version 2.1.5 and 4.1 on different computers, I think on balance I like the older one.

I also find it a good idea to wipe and re-install, just to get rid of all clutter of rules that build up over time, some obsolete, and start all over again

314080 2005-01-14 22:41:00 You can actually still download version 2.1.5 from Kerio themselves, you just need to browse the folder that contains the downloads for version 4.x.

I'm still happily using 2.1.5! :D

Can you give the link Agent? I can't find version 2.1.5 on the Kerio sites, only version 4.

314083 2005-01-15 05:49:00 Terry, it looks like they've finally disabled the directory browsing of their website, but the Archive (download.kerio.com) page is new for me, and you can select to download KPF 2.1.5 (or even 2.1.4 if you're inclined) from there. agent (30)
