638440 2008-02-08 03:49:00 Anyone one tried the new Comodo Firewall ? Prob old news by now But----

Its got a few more " tricks " up its sleeve esp when installing, as well as a new blocker for when installing programs - or read that as blocker to stop malware installing.

I'll confess  I,ve dumped ZA and gone over to Comodo, ever since Nod32 starting detecting a Bug in the latest ZA.

638441 2008-02-08 03:54:00 Ive got it here but havent installed it yet.

It looks like its got on demand virus scanning, in it now too

Its got a lot of things in it, for a free program.

At least adding ports to it (I tried the previous 3.x version) is easier. In 2.4 you had to be a rocket scientist to figure out how to add the bloody ports in lol.

I could install it on this, but the other pc the flatmate had it before and got rather pissed off, with clicking on all the popups lol.

Like Speedy I've got it but still haven't installed it.Been waiting for the problems to die down, still on 2.4.
Might try it this weekend, the wife's away so I can play more!!

638443 2008-02-08 04:05:00 2.4 was the main prob lol.

It used to block the windowsupdate site for me, and adding ports to some programs was a major PITA.

Hopefully, anyone who's using Comodo (who wants the later versions) has XP.

As it doesnt work with 2k. You'll have to use 2.4

638444 2008-02-08 04:10:00 So far installed it on Two Customers PC's today - So far no problems apart from I went to install A program ( Spybot) , walked away to get a cuppa and thought it would have finished 5 minutes later - but the firewall was stopping it, with a message asking for instructions to allow installing - OOPS! :o

Turned off the AV scanner - thought it may ???? Conflict with Nod32.

638447 2008-02-08 09:36:00 2.4 was Awesome Speedy! You just click Accept for everything.

But seriously, it always allowed Windows Updates and everything to go through, no problems at all.

I did , I could get to the WU site with it.

Getting into it after a scan, to see what updates were available, was another matter.

It kept on coming up with an error, saying I was using a proxy or something. I wasnt. It was Comodo. If I disabled it, it worked.

Until, the guys from Comodo told me what to add to the rules. I've still got what they told me to add in a text file.

638449 2008-02-08 23:01:00 Wainuitech: I have installed COMODO upon your recommendation . See the faith that I have in you?:D

It has had no problem with my network - set it up itself, unlike ZA where I had to tell it the range to allow . Great .

But what do I do to allow the slave laptop (running Vista) access to the net?

Your help, as usual, will be greatly appreciated . :) While SWMBO takes great delight in kicking me off MY chair to use MY pc to access the net, it would lessen the pain if she could use the laptop . Yes dear, yes dear, yes dear . . . . :waughh:
