2005-01-23 00:12:00 | Hey, i just saw that alienware is now in NZ as well. http://www.alienwaresystems.co.nz. Has anyone ever dealt with them? I would think they are a lot better quality than Dell, who my Dad was going to get a PC off. I don't really know anything about alienware, except that they look cool, and seem to be hard out. Are they good quality also?

2005-01-23 00:27:00 | and that intel desktop has a x300se graphics card which is bound to be crap, but the amd one has a 9550 one | Prescott (11) | |
2005-01-23 00:35:00 | They are highly acclaimed | Baldy (26) | |
2005-01-23 00:37:00 | They are highly mocked for being overpriced. But if its between that and any other brand name comp then then jump on it.

So, they are overpriced then? and that intel desktop has a x300se graphics card which is bound to be crap, but the amd one has a 9550 one Yeah, but you can just click "configure" and upgrade it to a better one. Is a 9550 any good? I can't seem to find anything about where the PC would be sent if their was a problem, surely you wouldnt have to send all the way to Australia? That was the address under the support page for the NZ website. |

2005-01-23 01:16:00 | There configuration doesn't include a monitor, and their cheapest unit is $668 . . . . No modem or antivirus either so its not internet ready unless you pay more . No speakers . And . . . . omg,They charge you $33 to tweak the graphics card options . . . And it has a weak graphics card that would really need immediate upgrading . Freight is $99 . hell, 3 weeks before it ships . . . . what a joke . . . . I would hope that doesn't reflect on there turn around time for repairs, I hears American customers sometimes have a long wait . . . So yeah, Its not great, It is expensive . I personally wouldn't buy or recomend that unit, Though in your case being restricted to a brand name then it is certainly an option worth looking into .
